Week Sauce: 2/2/2014-2/8/2014

Welcome back to my random and rapid-fire rundown (alliteration, bitches) of the most buzz-worthy events of the week. Let's get to it shall we.

Massacre at Super Bowl XLVIII: An all-time record number of television viewers tuned in to watch the least competitive Super Bowls I've ever witnessed. It was not a fair fight. Seattle laid a whooping on the Denver Broncos to the tune of 43-8. The Seahawks' Legion of Boom defense was just too much for Peyton Manning's Omaha! finesse. I don't know what was worse, the game or my hangover on Monday. Thank god for PTO.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Death: All circumstances aside, PSH was a great actor, and an even greater loss. R.I.P.

Jodeci Reloaded: K-Ci sing it...siiiiiing it! That's right, my favorite R&B group from the 90s(nope, there is no debate Boyz II Men) is coming back! Hopefully its won't be like one of those half-assed New Edition comebacks. Timbaland is taking the lead and handling all production for the album. Finally, Timbo is repaying Jodeci's DeVante Swing for helping launch his career. DeVante, you can put the gun down now.

Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies: Let me start off by saying that I'm still convinced that the city of Sochi didn't exist 10 years ago and that Russian officials just created it for the Olympic bid. I didn't personally watch the opening ceremonies, but here's what I gathered from the buzz on the interweb:
  1. Kinda weird.
  2. Way too long.
  3. One of the Olympic rings didn't fully open during the laser light show (someone probably was forced to die because of that glitch).
I also gathered reason #72,481 why the rest of the world hates America: the $2800 Ralph Lauren outfits each U.S. Olympian wore during the procession of athletes. 'Murica...show-offs.

Lauryn Hill On Letterman: Just as the world of late night talk shows finished saying goodbye to Jay Leno (I was saying good riddance, but that's another blog for another time...hmmm), the living legend of late night (more alliteration, your boy is on a roll), David Letterman, ended his Friday night show with none other than L-Boogie covering a Beatles' classic. Incredible. You're welcome.
