Tupac Shakur: A Legacy Interrupted

On September 13, 1996, Tupac Amaru Shakur died from gunshot wounds he suffered from a shooting in Las Vegas six days earlier. That was exactly 20 years ago today. Since his death, Shakur's legacy has reached almost prophet-like levels. He is probably the most iconic rapper of all-time. Tupac has had six very successful posthumous albums released, and every year, numerous Pac fans refusing to accept his death report sightings of him around the globe. He has been resurrected in movies, music, and even holograms. He's basically hip-hop's version of Elvis Presley.

R.I.P. Prince Nelson Rogers: A Tribute From a Nobody

(Courtesy of http://www.thenervousbreakdown.com/)
It's been 5 years in the making, but this is QuickBlurb's 300th post! A bittersweet moment today, considering music is a huge part of this blog, and the music world lost a major contributor today when it was announced that Prince passed away at his home today at the young age of 57.

R.I.P. Chris Kelly of Kriss Kross

Hip-hop has it's first casualty of 2013.  Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly, one half of the classic teenage hip-hop duo Kriss Kross along with Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith, was found dead today in his Atlanta home.  The cause of death has yet to be determined. Kelly was 34 years old.

This is truly a sad moment in hip-hop and music as a whole.  Kriss Kross dropped their debut album, Totally Krossed Out, in 1992.  It featured the massive hits Jump and Warm It Up.  These two half pint emcees had a ton of people (including yours truly) trying to go out in public with their clothes on backwards.

Let's take a moment to remember Chris and reflect on the joy Jump brought to our lives in the early months of 1992.  If you have drink in your hand as you read this, pour a little out for the Miggiddy-miggiddy-miggiddy-miggiddy Mac Daddy.  Thank you, Chris. Here's one of my Kriss Kross favorites.  You're welcome.

Lesley Goodin

It was an honor to have the privilege to call you family over the past 10 years.  Your smile and positivity will truly be missed.  May you get the rest you deserve.  This tribute is minute compared to the warmth you spread while on this Earth, but it is for you.  Enjoy, Lesley Goodin.
