Follower Critique: Tess Henley - High Heels & Sneakers
I haven't done one of these in a while. It's not that I haven't wanted to review one the blog's Twitter followers, its just that very few of my followers have intrigued me enough to listen to their music. It's an emotional roller coaster to say the least.
I get all excited when I get a notification that I have a new follower, then I see who it is, and it's somewhat disappointing. Its like, did you even look at the background of the type of music that is showcased on the blog? No, MC Such-n-Such, I do not want to hear your latest album titled Bitchez, Weed, Money, & Gunz.
As for you DJ Stank-Booty, I will not download your latest mixtape She Twerks Hard for the Money Vol. 14 (you see what I did there, elementary word play with the title of a Donna Summer classic).

New Music: R. Kelly ft. 2 Chainz - My Story
Remember when R.Kelly would drop a song and change the current face of R&B? Yeah, he doesn't do that anymore. Instead he drops garbage like this, pandering to an audience who never heard the original 12 Play or knew about his days with the Public Announcement.
The only reason I posted this is because no matter what, the man is still a legend in Chicago. That shit will change soon if Kellz keeps pumping out trash like this. 2 Chainz, Robert, really? You just look and sound desperate now. C'mon, son! You're welcome...not really, I should apologize for posting this.

New Music: Twista ft. R.Kelly - Throwin' My Money
I'm not a fan of this song at all, but I feel it is my duty to feature music from Chicago artists, and especially Chicago icons like Twista and R. Kelly. What we have here is another example of older artists forcing themselves to create music in the mold in what is perceived as popular today.
These two are getting up there in age, isn't it about time that they diversify their subject matter. Something about 40 year-olds crooning about making it rain on strippers' booties seems so passe. They both probably have grandchildren they don't know about somewhere. As young as Robert seems to like them, he might have some great-grandchildren floating around. Well here it is, a song that sounds like everything else, but worse and more contrived. You're welcome.

Robin Thicke ft. T.I. & Pharrell - Blurred Lines
Uh oh, JT's not the only cool white boy that can get a veteran rapper and a platinum producer to hop on a track. Mr. Thicke a.k.a. Mike Seaver (I wonder if that will catch on) drops a hot one that has the interweb buzzing. I'm digging this one. It has a nice little summer time vibe to it. Shit, its been so cold so far this "spring," everything sounds like it has a summer time vibe to me. Blurred Lines will be officially released on iTunes this Tuesday. You're welcome.
