Every time I get my grumpy old man act going, and say that I'm giving up on the future of hip-hop because no new acts are bringing it, I hear in something like this. Franc Grams is a refreshing throwback emcee, and on his mixtape he goes in on several of my favorite classic beats from the Fugees to Busta Rhymes. No red bottoms or Maybach talk here, just true grit.
Also, Mr. Grams has the co-sign from one of my favorite underground rhyme-sayers, Apathy, so you know I had to give him listen. Judging from his cover artwork, the kid has respect for those that came before him, which seems to rare in today's game.
