5 On It: NFL Week 5 Recap

No, I didn't forget about last week. After the horrific outcome of last week's Bears-Packers game, I decided to find my happy place and pretend that week 4 never happened. So, since in my mind there were no games, there was no need for a recap...perfect logic.

Logic aside, my happy place ended up being shattered because the damn Bears lost another damn game to the damn Panthers. Let's see what the rest of the week had to offer.

NFL Week 3 Recap: 5 On It

Welcome back. Week 3 has passed us, and so far no news of any running backs getting indicted over the weekend. I guess things are looking up for Goodell and Company. Once again, I'm here to give you my top five stand-out moments of the week. Get your popcorn ready (do people still say that?).

NFL Week 2 Recap: 5 On It

Man, this season needs to slow down. Week 2 is already in the rear-view mirror, and the Jets are already in full-choke mode. Eli is still stuck on the struggle bus, and Roger Goodell is still on the hot seat. Here's what stood out for us this week.

Happy NFL Kickoff 2014 Day!!!

Man, after a summer of sports limited to soccer and baseball snooze-fests, I am so happy to have football back! Being that I'm a Bears fan, I will be rooting for the defending champs tonight against the Cheeseheads. We only got it for 5 months, so soak it all in people. You're welcome.

Week Sauce: 2/9/2014 - 2/15/2014

We're halfway done with February people. I can almost smell Spring (sniffs the air and makes The Rock's face). I'm sure Mother Nature will have a few parting gifts for us as we exit winter. Any who, here's the best and the worst from the past week. Seems to be more worst than best, but to quote the great Keith Murray, "it beez like that sometimes." You're welcome.

Week Sauce (4/21 - 4/27)

I decided to drop this edition of Week Sauce today, just to bring some joy to everybody's Monday.  I'm keeping it light and hitting you with an all sports themed edition (and no, Jason Collins coming out is not sports news, I don't care what you say.  It would be more shocking news if they found evidence that Chris Bosh was straight).

On your mark, get set, go...

Atlanta Falcons Sign Brian Banks

This is an incredible story to wake up to.  If you aren't already aware, Brian Banks was a high school football phenom that was falsely accused of rape and kidnapping, and spent five years in prison.  His accuser recanted her story and he was exonerated last year.

During his time away from the game, Brian trained diligently in order to stay in playing shape. Having missed his chance to play college football for the USC Trojans, it seemed very unlikely that Banks would get the chance to see his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL materialize.  This morning it was announced that the Atlanta Falcons will sign Brian Banks and give him an opportunity to make the team.

This story is a shining examples of how "second chances" aren't just given, they are earned.  If you aren't familiar with the story, check out the newsreel below.  You're welcome.
