Atlanta Falcons Sign Brian Banks

This is an incredible story to wake up to.  If you aren't already aware, Brian Banks was a high school football phenom that was falsely accused of rape and kidnapping, and spent five years in prison.  His accuser recanted her story and he was exonerated last year.

During his time away from the game, Brian trained diligently in order to stay in playing shape. Having missed his chance to play college football for the USC Trojans, it seemed very unlikely that Banks would get the chance to see his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL materialize.  This morning it was announced that the Atlanta Falcons will sign Brian Banks and give him an opportunity to make the team.

This story is a shining examples of how "second chances" aren't just given, they are earned.  If you aren't familiar with the story, check out the newsreel below.  You're welcome.

Real Life Kenny F@#king Powers

Ah, the year was 2004, and a young man just concluded his high school basketball career ranked in USA Today's top 25 recruits.  He bypassed a commitment to play college ball for the USC Trojans, and opted to take his talents directly to the NBA.

Fast forward to 2013. Look past a ruptured ACL and failed stints in Seattle/OKC, the D-League, and Japan, and you'll find a man that just wants to enjoy an expired 4 Loko in the comfort of his own El Camino in front of his foreclosed home, which he refuses to relinquish to its new owner.

No folks, this is not a pitch for the basketball version of Kenny Powers from Eastbound & Down (to any TV execs out there reading, it could be and remember where you heard it first), but the real life saga of former NBA player Robert Swift.
