#QuickBlurb Sports: Melo Stays Home
Carmelo Anthony, All-NBA small forward, has decided to spurn the advances of the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Chicago Bulls and keep his talents on the floundering New York Knicks. Money Over Everything.
With this decision, Carmelo pretty much has solidified that he will not win a championship in the NBA in the capacity of being a star player. Anthony shared his decision to stay in New York via a written essay released by The Source Magazine. QuickBlurb has obtained an official copy of the release. You're welcome.
"Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from New York. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I cried. It’s where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart…blah, blah, blah. It’s where I could get the most money. Melo likes money.
Today, I am more paid than I was yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. Yeah, I could have went elsewhere and won more games, but honestly, losing is not that bad. There are so many perks to losing. I don’t have to play D, the coach eventually stops talking, and if we are losing by enough early, I can take the last quarter off. So relaxing. Melo likes to relax.
Listen, winning championships is cool, I guess, if that’s your thing. I’m a cash guy. Cash Rules Everything Around Me! (Method Man voice). I can’t spend “rings” on Giuseppe shoes and iPhone 8s, that shit costs cold hard cash, son! So what if Patty Mills has a ring, ask Patty Mills if he’s ever been to Jurassic Park. Melo hasn’t because it doesn’t exist, but if it did, best believe that Melo has enough paper to be sitting shotgun next to Jeff Goldblum on the next helicopter to the island to go raptor hunting. Raptor meat is delicious, but your broke asses don’t know nothin’ about that. Melo likes to eat exotic species.
The best part about re-signing with New York is now that Phil Jackson is there, the pressure is all on him. I can lose as much as I want now, and all the media will say is “The Zen Master built a bad team.” It’s his legacy on the line, not mine. Melo likes misdirected aggression.
I already have every excuse in the book lined up for why we will lose 50 games next season. We have a head coach that just finished playing a month ago, we traded our best defensive player away for peanuts, and we a team full of guards. Not Melo’s fault. I’ll still get mine. I can see the headline now: “Melo Breaks Single Season Scoring Record as Knicks Reach an All-Time Low For Futility.” Melo likes buckets.
I would end by telling you all how I plan to elevate the games of my teammates, but I honestly, I don’t even know who my teammates are. I might not even learn their names this season, it’s not like I will need call out their name to dish out an assist. Melo don’t pass.
To the Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston organizations, thank you for the free dinners and all the attention. You weren’t really dumb enough to think I was gonna take less money just for an opportunity to win a championship? C’mon, bwahahahaha! Hashtag gullible.
I’m coming home…with a brand-spanking new, muthaphuckin’, shiny, candy painted Bugatti, bitches! Lala, put that chicken back in the freezer, Melo’s taking you out tonight!"

#Quickblurb: The Sterling Affair
By now everyone has heard black belt racist and Los Angeles Clippers' owner, Donald Sterling's recorded racist tirade that made Mel Gibson say "c'mon man!" You may have also heard that as a result of said tirade, Mr. Sterling has been banned for life from all NBA functions, and rightfully so.
Who would of thought an 80 year old white American male would have harsh feelings for minorities? Rumor has it that the man tried to sue Fox Searchlight Studios for copyright infringement because 12 Years a Slave was what he named all the contracts he had his players sign (I kid, I kid).

Let's look past the fact that they have spent the last 20 years supplying Sterling with justification for his horrific views by showering him with multiple lifetime achievement awards. That's not even the real crime here. They still have "colored people" in their name, how racist is that? The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. I mean, who was their founding father, Archie Bunker? Its bad for the Redskins to call themselves the Redskins, but no one has issue with this?
All I'm saying is, if someone called me colored, I'd be pissed, bottom line. I have issue with your priorities, Ms Brock. Forget racism in the NBA, the NAACP's next order of business should be a name update (colored people...seriously?).

A.D.D. Report: Konichiwa, Stern-sie
We are about to witness the departure of NBA commissioner David Stern and I, for one, am glad. All these analysts have been very kind in their words about him, but I will not.
I've seen him introduce different basketballs for really no good reason. I've seen him eliminate the wear or compression tights (and let's be real, it was only because the NBA wasn't making money off of it seeing as they didn't make them). I saw him add an age limit provision to entering the NBA. It stated you couldn't declare for the NBA draft straight out of high school. The timing didn't make sense because it came after Amare Stoudamire and Lebron James won back to back Rookie Of The Year awards, who were both straight out of high school .And at the time, some of their best players were straight out of high school (i.e. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady). He also introduced these non-flattering sleeved jerseys. He also nixed the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. To add insult to injury, he then approved a Chris Paul trade to the Clippers, with whom the Lakers share the same arena. Stern good riddance, no Green Day.

Kidd & (no) Play
I don't think anyone needs a reminder on how huge a NBA fan I am. But there is a difference between being a NBA fan and just being a fan of your home NBA team.
Usually "homer fans" can't be objective. They make excuses for their home team or apply logic to other teams but won't apply it to their own. Case in point: the Brooklyn Nets. Since my home team is the Chicago Bulls, I'm gonna use them as my example of this, but feel free to insert whatever team you love. Now, Jason Kidd is a first year head coach who has no prior experience. He was dealt, on paper, a projected top-4 Eastern conference team in the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately, before the season even started his starting point guard Deron Williams went down with an injury, so Kidd had to go through training camp and preseason without the "quarterback" of his team.

A.D.D. Report: Drake-ing Bad
Question: is AMC the new HBO?? HBO has had great luck with producing some all-time great dramas. The Wire, Oz, Sopranos...all classics! AMC has The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. I like both shows (well I actually LOVE The Walking Dead).
I'm probably one of a few that thinks Breaking Bad is just ok. I guess I just expected so much more. I do admit a bias of liking zombies a hell of a lot more than drug cartels, but nothing tops a good old fashioned ruthless drug cartel. I thought his family would be in harm's way at least once in the storyline, but in 5 seasons neither the son, the daughter, nor the mother have ever been abducted or scratched. I mean the son is handicapped which is such an easy target in my opinion.

Glove Love
Recently Gary Payton did an interview where he said John Stockton was the hardest person he ever had to guard. Those unfamiliar with Gary Payton, he is a NBA Defensive Player Of The Year winner. He has been on multiple NBA All-Defensive teams, and next to Scottie Pippen, he is arguably the best on-ball defender in NBA history.

Draft Day Regrets
Good morning, here's a nice read I picked up via Bleacher Report. It is a nice slide show article about NBA draft day trades that ended horrible for one team. It was well written, witty, and might I say, the actual columnist is quite handsome (no homo). Enjoy the read. You're welcome.

NBA Randomness
I debuted my first blog here then stepped away to mourn the playoff exit of my Chicago Bulls. Now that I've coped with the devastating loss, I got a lot to vent. I'm going to try and get this out in one breath, somebody time me.

Family Expansion
I see Mr. Powell is holding it down like Durant but I'm here to add a little Westbrook help. I'm Dustine Mcclenton but I prefer River. I am a HUGE NBA & WWE fanatic, not fan because I believe I'm pretty obsessed with them both. I told Jon about some things to add to his blog and he gave me the green light and platform to do it myself. Consider this your NWO TAKEOVER! I was born and raised in Chicago so I love me some Bulls. What I don't like is the fact that I may be seeing the end of my favorite Bull right now, Nasty Nate. I don't see the Bulls keeping 3 point guards next year when Rose comes back. I say why not because he will add more than Teague. I think they should just trade their upcoming first round pick along with another asset and finally get that shooting guard we need. The Raptors want Boozer so maybe we can get Demar DeRozan and others from them. This isn't me being a homer but I do feel they are a piece away from overtaking Miami. I fully trust Gar Foreman and John Paxson to get something done.
Another Central division team trying to make moves is the Milwaukee Bucks. They make trades every year that kind of impress me because they give less and get back more. They have some pieces but just no guidance. Enter Hall Of Famer Jerry Sloan. He just interviewed with the Bucks for their coaching vacancy. He left the meeting with just "serious consideration" which makes me ask the question of does the Bucks think they are gonna get a better coach than Jerry Sloan to come to Milwaukee?? In the words of the Miz: REALLY??? I highly doubt it.
A lot of people didn't know how Memphis trading away Rudy Gay would hurt the team. The answer is none. Adding Tayshaun Prince to that defense has worked wonders. I compare it to adding Chris Anderson to Miami's system, certain things just come together. I pick them to win the West en route to the NBA Finals. Can they beat the Heat? Why not? No one thought Dallas could do it. D-Wade's health is a major issue. Only time will tell. Thanks for your time.

NBA: Mike Brown Comes Back to Cleveland to Coach the Cavs.
Money heals all wounds. Mike Brown was fired by the Cavs in 2010, and has now accepted a four year, $20 million deal to return and coach Uncle Drew and the crew.
Poor Mike, accepting yet another job from a team that really wanted Phil Jackson. Here's the story from ESPN:

T-Mac is Back!!!
Today, the San Antonio Spurs have done what the Orlando Magic failed to do in 2000, unite Tim Duncan and Tracy McGrady. T-Mac was signed today, and will be eligible to be on the Spurs playoff roster. The Spurs have now become my sentimental favorite to win the NBA championship. It would be nice to see Tracy get a final shot at that championship ring that has eluded him his entire career.
Here's the full story via ESPN.

Jay-Z - Open Letter
From the King of Pop, to new music from the King of Hip-Hop. What an eventful morning its been so far. It seems Jay is a little pissed from a few things. First from being forced to sell his shares of his beloved Brooklyn Nets in order to pursue ambitions to become an agent to NBA players. Then, there's the whole being investigated for going to Cuba for his and Beyonce's anniversary this past weekend. Looks like some higher ups took his bars from Otis a little too literally (Welcome to Havana/Smokin' Cubanas with Castro in cabanas).
I definitely understand the league's position, it definitely would be a conflict of interest. Being the business man Jay is, he probably understands too, but he found a perfect opportunity to vent.
I love angry Hov. His lyrics come off so much more fluid when he has something to get off his chest. Plus, what other artist do you know that can get Swizz Beatz and Timbaland to come to the studio and make a beat so that they can "vent"? Only Jigga. You're welcome.

Week Sauce (3/17 - 3/23)
Trying to get it in early, since I've been late the last couple of weeks. I'm not gonna lie, bigger things could have happened this week and I might have missed them. I don't care, its March Madness, snitches! This tournament is the only important thing going on this week, ask Obama. He dropped everything to fill out a bracket. That man loves his TV time.
Here's what stood out, let me know what slipped through the cracks.

Review: Hoop Dream Ink
If you love basketball, and you love basketball, then by default (and good taste) you'll love Hoop Dream Ink. These are some of the dopest original sports prints I have ever seen. They make me want to buy a sports bar just so I can buy all of them and have a place to show them off...but I am broke, so I digress.
Hoop Dream Ink reps all eras of the NBA, and even reintroduces us to some forgotten/unsung ballers (don't nobody know nothin' bout some Run TMC!!!). What makes this company even cooler is that they don't just stop at wall art, you can get any design on a hoodie, t-shirt, iPhone case, or even a throw pillow (no typo, I said throw pillow...peep the site).
