Daily Throwback: Jay Z - Girls, Girls, Girls

The Shuffle God wishes everyone a happy new year by giving you all the gift of Hov. This gem was a stand out on Jay's legendary The Blueprint album. I loved this album and this song. I remember not having a job and being broke at the time the album was released (September 11th, 2001...the album Bin Laden couldn't stop) and contemplating just running up in Wal-Mart and strong arming a copy. Now that's a fan.

The only thing that disappointed me about this song was that Biz Markie, Slick Rick, and Q-Tip were all featured on the hook, so I always envisioned a remix with them all having verses that never happened. Wishful thinking I guess. The song is still great. Till this day, I will still blurt out "Jigga man, why you treat me like animuhl?" for no particular reason. You're welcome.

Daily Throwback: Ruff Ryders - Scenario 2000

The Shuffle God is ruthless for this one! This posse cut had me going bonkers when it dropped. It was featured on Eve's 1999 debut album, Let There Be Eve: The Ruff Ryders' First Lady. That's how dope it was, it made me buy Eve's album...yes people, I once spent money on an E-V-E album. This song was originally supposed to be a remix of Jay Z's summer anthem from that year, Jigga, My N*gga, which was produced by the Ruff Ryders' very own Swizz Beats, but I guess Hov was late to the studio that day to record his verse. The song was still the definition of fire, and made my 1987 Chevy Barreta feel like it was a fully loaded Hummer when this song exploded through the speakers. You got something to get off your chest? Daily Throwback: Pharrell ft. Jay-Z - Frontin'

I think the Shuffle God is speaking to the artists with this selection.  It has definitely been a minute since we've been blessed by a track from Hov and Skateboard P.  I think its time.  The ball is now in your court, Shawn and Pharrell.  Until then...you're welcome.

Jay-Z - Open Letter

From the King of Pop, to new music from the King of Hip-Hop. What an eventful morning its been so far.  It seems Jay is a little pissed from a few things.  First from being forced to sell his shares of his beloved Brooklyn Nets in order to pursue ambitions to become an agent to NBA players. Then, there's the whole being investigated for going to Cuba for his and Beyonce's anniversary this past weekend. Looks like some higher ups took his bars from Otis a little too literally (Welcome to Havana/Smokin' Cubanas with Castro in cabanas).

I definitely understand the league's position, it definitely would be a conflict of interest.  Being the business man Jay is, he probably understands too, but he found a perfect opportunity to vent.

I love angry Hov.  His lyrics come off so much more fluid when he has something to get off his chest.  Plus, what other artist do you know that can get Swizz Beatz and Timbaland to come to the studio and make a beat so that they can "vent"?  Only Jigga.  You're welcome.

Kendrick Lamar ft. Jay-Z - Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe (Remix)

As promised earlier, the G.O.A.T. and the Phenom together on the same track.  The single's cover artwork is fitting, should have really been Kobe sharing knowledge with LeBron, but we all know Kobe ain't sharing shit!  I already liked the original version, Hov on the track is just the hot fudge on the sundae.  This song already has a little Aquemini vibe to it, would have Andre 3000's perspective added to the song, but as I am constantly reminded on a daily basis, I can't always have my way.  This song will have a permanent spot on my car's playlist.  You're welcome.
