Real Life Kenny F@#king Powers

Ah, the year was 2004, and a young man just concluded his high school basketball career ranked in USA Today's top 25 recruits.  He bypassed a commitment to play college ball for the USC Trojans, and opted to take his talents directly to the NBA.

Fast forward to 2013. Look past a ruptured ACL and failed stints in Seattle/OKC, the D-League, and Japan, and you'll find a man that just wants to enjoy an expired 4 Loko in the comfort of his own El Camino in front of his foreclosed home, which he refuses to relinquish to its new owner.

No folks, this is not a pitch for the basketball version of Kenny Powers from Eastbound & Down (to any TV execs out there reading, it could be and remember where you heard it first), but the real life saga of former NBA player Robert Swift.

Read the Deadspin article and watch this video from KOMO showing how my man turned a million dollar mansion into a dirty frat house.

Talib Kweli- The Traveler (Prod. J. Period)

It's always nice when Talib decides to bless us with a gem.  This is from J. Period's latest mixtape, Rage is Back.  Common and Black Thought both went in on the mixtape, so you know Kweli was not going to disappoint.  There are two words that best describe this track...1) Hip 2) Hop.  You're welcome.

Damian Marley - Dem Neva Mek It

Hello, friends.  This evening I bring you music from Bob Allah's offspring, Damian "Jr Gong" Marley.  Definitely not his father's brand of reggae, but Damian, as always, does not hold back on the energy.  I really like this song. One might classify it as dancehall, but while it has a faster pace to it, I don't think it is as generic as most modern dancehall tunes.  All that is missing from this song is a beach chair and a bottle of Jamaican rum...one can dream can't they.  Enjoy

Week Sauce (2/17 - 2/23)

Welcome to Week Sauce.  This week's edition was dominated by hilarious word play, childish rants, and nerdy sh*t.  You already know what it is, so I'm going to cut the introduction short and get straight to it.

The O.G. Harlem Shake

Real recognize real...

Dead Deadline

The NBA trade deadline is usually a pretty exciting day.  This year just meh.  No major moves that could potentially shift the championship picture, basically scrub for scrub trades.  I guess when J.J. Reddick is the biggest name on deadline day, that kinda sums everything up.

I think the biggest move made in the NBA on deadline day wasn't even a trade, it was the Knicks signing Kenyon Martin to a 10 day contract.  If K-Mart still has gas left in the tank, this could be huge for the Knicks in filling the void of the ever so valued "old ass man enforcing down low" position that was left vacant with the health issues of Marcus "Gray Bush" Camby and Rasheed "Old Balls" Wallace.  Martin has already spent extensive time playing with JR Smith and Carmelo Anthony, so he should be able to fit in just fine.

KYLE - Keep It Real (prod. Carnage)

There's something about this one, I can't put my finger on it.  I like and dislike his style at the same time.  He sounds like he could be the by-product from a weird, tip-touching night between Drake and Kid Cudi. Even the video, its like he had me with the whole pizza delivery guy bit and then ruined it and got all jiggy with it.  So torn. The production is tight...sometimes. Damn you, KYLE, and your inconsistencies!!! Do you want me to like you or hate you?  My 8th grade dance all over again. Listen.
